To hire a doula is a good investment in your peace of mind and sense of satisfaction during birth or afterwards.

Doula's have to charge you for their services.  They must.  They have costs for living and they provide care.  They are paying for their training, they are paying for their operating costs and this is no different from any other skilled professional you hire.

Doctors, Midwives, Nurses are paid by the hospitals they work for.  They are paid for their time, no matter how much work they do - and they are often over worked!- and they recieve benefits, as well as retirement contribution to their Bituach Leumi accounts.  Not so for Doulas.

Doulas are independent practitioners.  They all have to pay for bituach leumi, as well as advertising.  The doula is responsible for herself and you.

Doulas are valuable resources for other services, they are your guide to this new world you are entering in parenting.

What would yo pay to make sure you were cared for by caring, knowledgable support professionals?

What if this care made the difference between disaster and satisfaction in birth and postpartum?

With the value of the service you are recieving, what is paid out of pocket is a real bargain.
